:: have just added a 'search' facility. see it? to the left, just below the 'blogger' graphic. total set-up time: about 15 minutes and is really straight forward. best of all it's free! get one for yourself at atomz ...

:: it's becoming hard to keep up with it all !!! i am not able to write about things fast enough !!! as i finish one account of a suicide bomber, so another strikes ...

yesterday evening, shortly after the end of shabbat [sabbath], as i am talking to my brother arthur in south africa, a suicide bomber kills 2 and injures more than 40 in a cafe in tel aviv!

just after lunch today, i headed to our local mall in raanana, with my wife marcele and son david. as we looking at some dvd players, we see breaking news on multiple tv sets. a suicide bomber has struct at a restuarant in haifa, killing 15 and wounding more than 30!

as i type this, the news is interupted with another suicide bombing in the city of efrat, south of jerusalem. details are obviously sketchy right now, but first reports say 4 are dead!

i will keep you informed. if i can ...

:: a few thoughts ... as i sit here in my 'work' room in my apartment in raanana, i can continuously hear the sounds of jets, helicopters, sirens, news flashes on the tv, the whirring of my hard drive ... yet there is an obvious lack of other familiar sounds. no birds are singing or chirping. no sounds of children playing in the park. occassionally i here the odd car moving down the road. it's a deathly quiet ...

:: un -- what does it stand for?

united nations? or unfair nations?

[please note: some of these images are very graphic]

march 30, 2002, the 'un' votes and passes a resolution calling on israel to pull out of palestinian towns and cities. but there is no direct call, none that that i have heard so far, that calls for the palestinians to stop their terror against innocent israeli citizens.

in the two weeks since zinni arrived, israel pulled out of all palestinians areas and has observed complete restraint.

in the two weeks since zinni arrived, more than 50 israelis are dead and over 350 are wounded, by palestinian terrorists.

and arafat says he is a peace partner! i beg to differ ... he is a killer and a terrorist in the absolute form.

on wednesday evening, march 27, 2002, a palestinian suicide bomber walked into the dining room of the park hotel in netanya -- where the religious pesach seder [passover meal] was about to begin -- and caused the 'beginning of the end'. just look at these images ...

on friday morning, march 29, 2002, a palestinian suicide bomber blows herself up in a supermarket in the suburb of kiriyat yuval in jerusalem, killing 2 and woundeing more than 40 innocent israeli civilians. take a look ...

israel decides to retaliate and immediately enters ramallah and goes straight arafat compound in order to try and put a stop to the terrorism.

i quote from debka file :

"the military operation was vital, israel explained, not only to isolate arafat and cut off his terror machine, but to uncover the vast stores of secret weapons he has amassed in violation of the 'oslo framework accords' he signed with israel in 1993. israel intelligence had learned that arafat hid these forbidden depots beneath 'palestinian administration' buildings in the government compound in ramallah. as israeli tanks and bulldozers advanced through the compound during the day, huge tunnels came to light containing an array of weaponry, including anti-tank and anti-air missiles – apparently only one section of a many-branched storage system.

under the headquarters of col. tawfiq tirawi’s 'palestinian general security service', israeli elite units turned up a large bunker in which were stacked hundreds of m-72 laws (light anti-tank weapons). a similarly packed store was concealed under the 'palestinian authority' prison, also captured by israel forces.

bunkers under arafat’s offices were found to contain electronic surveillance devices for tracking israeli military movements, as well as detailed diagrams of the bases and movements of senior israeli officers stationed in the ramallah region, with notes on the security details guarding them and their routines. also found were aerial maps of at least one israeli air base.

israel’s military and intelligence command ordered military bulldozers to systematically break through suspect buildings in the compound for two purposes: to uncover the illicit weapons stores and to leave arafat isolated in his undamaged office and living quarters amid the ruins of his compound."

here are a few more images ...

it is time for the world to 'wake up' to the fact that arafat is a terrorist. period.

oh my g-d, just turned on the tv only to see that there has just been another palestinian suicide bomber in tel aviv. it is time to arrest the entire 'pa' for murder!!!

:: 9:30am, car bomb explodes 300m from my office

a massive terror attack was thwarted, when a suicide bomber in a booby-trapped car, exploded close to the 'jerusalem technology park' in the suburb of 'malkha' at about 9:30 am.

based on intellegance info, border police and shin bet internal security agents, identified the suspicious car travelling south of the jerusalem zoo on the walajeh road at about 9:15am. they ordered the car to stop, but the driver increased his speed. they began chasing the car. again, they called for the car to stop. when it did not, they opened fire. it exploded with the large blast, blowing the doors off.

the car was extremely heavely laiden with explosives. israeli bomb specialists spent most of they defusing and detonating the balance of these explosives.

the two palestinian terrorists were killed in the explosion, which took place about 300m from my office in the 'jerusalem technology park'. apparently, they were on their way to the 'malcha [jerusalem] shopping mall' just 200m further on. it is believed they were going to park in the underground parking area of the mall and then detonate the bombs. i hate to think of what could have happened ...

there were no israeli casualties in the thwarted terror attack.

later in the day, the yasser arafats' fatah-affiliated al-aksa martyrs brigade claimed responsibility for the bombing.

4:25pm a side-walk coffee shop. they're generally full on thursday afternoons. end of the busy work-week. there's an optican just across the road.

it's a busy time. 'pesach' [passover] starts next wednesday evening -- schools kids started their three-week holiday two days ago.

4:27pm i am all of a sudden aware of the sound, or more accurately, the sounds of numerous sirens -- ambulances, fire trucks and police. i dread that deathly cacophony. at the same time a mobile phone rings on the desk next to mine. as it is answered, i hear incoherent screaming. muffled shouts, and the sounds of numerous sirens. a young girl in her mid-twenties.

she was just 50m from the explosion. for the second time ... on january 27, 2002, she was 50m away from the first female suicide bomber in almost the same place!!!

i pray for peace ...

:: security meeting held despite attack us envoy anthony zinni convened a high-level trilateral security meeting late last night to define the terms of the tenet cease-fire plan, despite yesterday's bus bombing.

the meeting, which ended just before midnight, failed to produce a cease-fire declaration. the us-brokered, joint security committee of israeli and palestinian authority officials met at us ambassador daniel kurtzer's residence in herzliya.

israel requested the pa take a number of steps against terrorism, including arresting wanted terrorists, dismantling terror organizations, and confiscating illegal weapons.

the pa requested the idf pull back to positions occupied before the outbreak of violence in september 2000. it also requested the dismantling of all idf roadblocks and blockades of palestinian villages, and that palestinian civilians be allowed full freedom of movement.

those present were : general zinni, shin bet chief avi dichter, and pa preventive security service heads jibril rajoub and muhammad dahlan.

and this is what i find most disturbing: both rajoub and dahlan praised yesterday suicide bus bombing!!! [see my 'rave and drool' from yesterday]

:: oh fuck!!! yet again ... this time just 2km from my front door!!!

at least 16 wounded in shooting attack in kfar saba a palestinian gunman opened fire at passersby in kfar saba in the vicinity of the police station and the local courthouse a few minutes ago.

two police shot the terrorist dead after the shooting spree which took place near the intersection of "sheshet hayamim avenue" and "weizmann street", according to an witness

there are at least 16 wounded in the wake of the attack, with one in critical condition, and at least two others in serious condition.

seven casualties, three in serious condition, have been taken to the city's meir hospital nearby [1km].

the area has been cordoned off as security forces search for a possible second gunman, according to eyewitnesses.

:: here is an update [2:15pm] taken from the jerusalem post internet edition

one dead, over ten wounded in kfar saba shooting attack one Israeli was killed and over ten were wounded after a palestinian gunman wielding a semi-automatic rifle opened fire at passersby in kfar saba at 12:50 a.m.

three policemen shot the terrorist dead, cutting short the shooting spree which took place near the intersection of "sheshet hayamim avenue" and weizmann street, according sharon district dep. cmdr. aharon franco.

no group has taken responsibility for the attack.

at least ten pedestrians were wounded in the shooting, with one in very critical condition and at least five others more lightly hurt, israel radio reported.

the casualties were taken to the city's nearby meir hospital. the hospital has opened an emergency hot line for those seeking information on those wounded in the attack: 125-5199. overseas callers must first dial 972 before the above number.

two others, suffering from trauma, were taken to beilinson hospital in petah tikva.

police say the terrorist acted alone. a palestinian found in the area was arrested after the shooting attack, however it is unclear if he is connected to the attack, israel television channel 1 reported.

palestinian authority - controlled kalkilya is just across the green line from kfar saba.

prime minister ariel sharon's office condemned the attack, which comes on the fourth day of us envoy anthony zinni's mission seeking a mideast cease-fire.

"israel has offered a cease-fire, pulled back most of its forces in good faith, and this seems to be the answer Israel is receiving," sharon adviser dore gold said.

sharon said this morning at the weekly cabinet meeting that israel will not negotiate with palestinians while under fire. he said israel would act to achieve regional calm, but would return to the previous proactive policy against terror if the palestinians renew attacks against Israeli targets during discussions

police could not immediately say where the attacker came from.

a witness said the gunman walked calmly down the middle of the road toward police, who fired on him from behind pillars. "he walked straight toward them. i'm embarrassed to say it on the air, but he was a real man," the witness, identified only as tzvika, told israeli radio.

the witness, who drove right into the battle, said the gunman at one point stood right next to his car, but was too occupied by the police to notice him. tzvika said he hit the gas and escaped.

the attack occurred in a mixed residential and commercial area just before schools were to be let out.

a nearby primary school kept the students inside after the shooting started. israeli tv showed footage of students at a vocational high school overlooking the scene of the attacks leaning out the window watching the police secure the area.

:: another day of terrorism and death and violence

:: it all started at about 2:00am ... a palestinian terrorist, standing on a pedestrian footbridge and armed with an m-16 semiautomatic rifle, opened fire first at diners in the "seafood market", emptying one magazine at the eatery.

he then changed clips and began firing at the nearby "mifgash ha'steakiya," both located near the intersection of begin, lincoln, and yitzhak sadeh streets and the offices of the ma'ariv hebrew daily.

the terrorist, ibrahim mohammed hasuna, 20, then ran into the second restaurant and began shooting stabbing diners.

one of the patrons, william hazan, said he shot and killed the attacker.

"there was gunfire all around. the terrorist stabbed me in the back with a knife," he said. "right away I started firing at him."

the palestinian terrorist also hurled two fragmentation grenades, which did not explode.

that was the first terrorist attck of the day. here are some of the others:

8:30am :: one israeli dead, one wounded in tunnels road shooting an israeli woman motorist died and her husband sustained serious wounds in a shooting attack on the bethlehem bypass road near the village of husan.

8:40am :: suicide bomber kills one in afula bus station a suicide bomber exploded in afula's central bus station killing one israeli and wounding at least 5 people.

when will it end? my fifteen year-old daughter has just told me that she no longer wants to live here and that she is very scared. i tried to tell her not to have fear. to be strong. the more i tried to calm her down, the more i realized how right she was ... i too am frightened!!!

palestinians “lose” $50m payroll
just over three weeks ago, palestinian authority paymasters, about to hand out january wage packets to civilian and security personnel, were taken aback to find that the $50 million earmarked for the purpose had gone missing. at a loss, they asked their bosses what to do and were told there was nothing for it but to take the problem to yasser arafat. however, in the top man’s presence, nobody said a word. every one of those staffers knew exactly who had taken the money and what it was spent on: arafat’s latest fatah-tanzim terror cycle, already referred to by insiders as 'the palestinian tet offensive'.
